A TOTAL of 16 teams of four played in the Crediton Twinning Association Annual Boules knock-out competition on the Town Square in Crediton and, as usual, those teams losing their first match entered the “Plate” Competition.

The other eight teams continued in the main trophy event.

This resulted in a final between a visiting team from Uffculme called the “Uffculme Twillers” and a Crediton Team called the “Forresters”.

Play had started at 1.30pm and the finals were taking place between 5pm and 6pm.

In the Plate Competition the Town Council Team reached the final and played against last year’s Plate Trophy winners, the “Choristers” from Holy Cross Choir.

Some exciting games resulted in the “Choristers” winning the Plate Trophy by a score of 11 to eight and the same score in the main competition resulted in the “Forresters” beating the “Uffculme Twillers”.

This annual event has taken place since the Twinning Association was formed in 1989.

A pair of spectacles and case were found at the end of the event and anyone who may have lost them is invited to contact the “Courier” office.
