SPREYTON 8 - KENN VALLEY UNITED 1

THE Chris Down show continued for Spreyton FC on Saturday, September 9 when the team made it tough for themselves with plenty of chances missed on early doors which should have been put to bed.

However, after the first 10 minutes Chris Down finally ended the missed chances and put Spreyton 1-0 up with a lovely finish.

Shortly after Matt Baker could have put Spreyton 2-0, then 3-0 up, with absolute sitters missed. However, after the missed chances were put to bed, Chris Down scored again getting in behind the defence and making it Spreyton 2-0 and before the half-time whistle went Chris completed the hat-trick and Kenn Valley nicked a cheeky goal to make it 3-1.

The second half was the goal fest that blew Kenn Valley out the water and shortly after the break Liam Ward put a lovely ball in to Matt Baker who finally hit the net!

It was a battle of possession for 20-odd minutes and then on came Kieran Statton. Matt Baker shortly after the changes flicked the ball in to Chris Down on the half-way line for Chris to then slot past the ‘keeper to complete the fourth goal.

Shortly after this Chris picked the ball off a Matt Baker set down and hit the ball 30 yards to complete the majestic five.

Kieran Statton completed the scoring with a floated ball from Sam Metters on the half-way line and Kieran Statton gambled and nodded past the ‘keeper.

Four out of four games is an unreal start to the season for the Spreys! On top of this we donated £60 made from refreshments to a charity event in aid of Children’s Hospice South West held in the Village Hall.
