CREDITON travelled down the A380 to face South Devon League outfit Ashburton on Saturday, November 5.

Crediton rang the changes with Waring, Trenaman, Khoo, Harris and Groom all getting starting berths.

In a tight cup tie both teams had their chances, Ashburton scoring two cheap goals from crosses with both of Crediton’s goals coming from scoring sensation Richard Groom.

Ashburton had the chance to win the game on 83 minutes but the penalty kick was sent five yards wide of the right-hand post.

The game headed into extra time and after 108 minutes Lee Riggs was shown his marching orders for two bookable offences.

Ashburton looked to have got the game-winning goal on 115 minutes but on 118 minutes captain fantastic Dave Lee popped up with a close range header to send the game to penalties.

In a tense shoot out it would be the Mid Devon visitors who would prevail.

Although Carpenter missed, Trenaman, Skinner, Bradford and Durrant successful spot kicks sent Creddy into the fourth round.

Next up is an away league game at Galmpton tomorrow, Saturday, November 12, with a 2.15pm kick off at the memorial ground.
