CREDITON Girls Youth Football is having a great 2018 with success across all age groups.
On May Day bank holiday (May 7) we took three sides up to Bideford AFC football festival with Under 11’s making it to the final of the Cup. Sadly, they ended up just missing out after coming back twice in the final to draw but lost on penalties.
Our under 13’s played seven and won seven to win the Under 13’s Cup.
The day was then capped off with our Under 15’s taking on Bideford in a cup match which after a very hard-fought match Crediton won 2-1 to collect another trophy.
The success story then continued during the weekend of May 19 and 20 with the Under 11’s winning the Devon Girls League Cup at Moors.
The 11’s had only lost one of the league matches in Devon Girls League in 2018 so have been on a remarkable run!
The Under 13’s have been taking part in the North Devon League and having made it to the League Cup Final on the Sunday they won comfortably against a Fremington side.
Then, to complete a great 48 hours, they went to Northam on Monday evening (May 21) to play the final two league matches against Bradworthy and Bideford and Appledore knowing two wins would secure the league title.
After a nervous start the two wins were achieved and Crediton became League winners.
The mini bus is now booked for the trip up to Braunton in a couple of weeks to attend the North Devon League Presentation night.
Finally, not to leave them out, our Under 15’s took on the Devon League this season and played home and away against eight other sides across Devon.
In their first season they have taken the league by storm, winning eight and drawing three with only five losses and finished third in the League which is a major achievement for such a new side.
So a big well done to all three squads. It has been an incredible year with squads growing with lots of smiles and laughs with the success in results following close behind.
May I thank all the players, parents, sponsors Bedford and Co and A and S Paving for their efforts this season!
I would also take this opportunity of thanking Martin Daniel who has been with the girls section since its formation and all his efforts and support to get us to where we are today!
Hopefully we will still see him at many Girls matches after he steps down as Chairman.
Also thanks to Nikki, Dave, Tony and Paul which whom it would have been impossible to achieve any of the above.
Finally should any girls want to join our club and play football they can contact me for more details by email: [email protected] or text to 07970 372419.
