ON June 15 John Palmer, who lives at Sampford Courtenay, set out on a cycle ride around the coast of Ireland, which in total took three weeks to complete a total of 1,502 miles.

John was raising funds for the FORCE cancer charity where he hoped to achieve a target of £2,000.

John said: “A big thank you goes to everyone for their sponsorship to FORCE, and for the interest in my challenge cycle ride around the coast of Ireland.

“It was a memorable experience and we met many lovely people and enjoyed the most beautiful of scenery.

“Anyone interested in tracking the stages of our journey, or would still like to sponsor the project but never got round to it, do please visit the Sampford Courtenay Village Website, where I recorded a daily blog of our experiences.

“To-date, there is £2,617.50 in the kitty and it would be wonderful to achieve £3,000.”

FORCE (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter) is a well-established Exeter-based charity providing support for people with cancer and their families as well as funding vital cancer research and specialist equipment.
