LOCAL businesses took part in an industrial darts tournament at The Cider Works, Crediton, to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

Teams of five players battled it out for one of the “worlds most prestigious darts titles,” The Sandford Orchards Charity Open.

The teams, which were of mixed gender and ability, competed in short games throughout the evening to establish the grand champion, which was ISCA Scaffold.

Tom Lee Engineering, Westexe Forklifts and ISCA Scaffold sponsored kegs and “Bag in Box” ciders.

Chinns donated sausages and Edwin Tuckers and Sons Ltd entered two teams for the event.

With the help of all sponsors and teams including Helmores estate agents of Crediton, and the volunteer support of Sandford Orchards employees, £649 was raised for the charity which provides hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

It is proposed that the tournament will become an annual event.
