THIS report will be about football and a mixture for me on a memory of working in Chagford and at Fernworthy Reservoir in October 1966, and at other times until June 1988.

So as you see going to our hosts for a match brings back a lot of memories, so I won’t bore you good people anymore and I’ll get on with the match of the day.

First of all the winning score on Saturday, February 8 of 3-1 does not give the true picture of Lapford First team’s win, which I would put at least at 70-30 to Lapford, to go in half-time at 0-0 and missing a penalty in about three minutes in.

After half-time, in fact on 47 minutes, Lapford scored first, that lasted until 65 minutes, when the hosts did manage to score from a bad mistake, but then two goals came from Lapford on 67 minutes and 70 minutes to seal the victory.

To be honest it should have been at least nine goals for Lapford. The goal scorers for Lapford were Mark and Ben Tucker and Tom Broome - well done lads.

Up to second in the Division now with a league record as follows: P17, W11, D3, L3, Pmts 36, goals F53-A22.

Today, Saturday, February 15, the First team are away at Bampton which will be a hard match to win, seeing as Bampton are through to the semi-finals of the Devon Premier Cup along with the Cronies, Exeter University and Mount Gould.

So Devon and Exeter League has three out of four in the semi’s.

Turning to the Senior Cup, neighbours to the west, Winkleigh are through to the semi’s along with Teignmouth and Thorverton, again three out of four for the D and E League.

Also in the Intermediate Cup all three teams from D and E League in the semi’s namely Farway, Winchester and Bishops Blaize.

Of course the Macron Devon and Exeter League is the best in Devon in my view.

So what can I say, or should I say, about the Reserves after their defeat last Saturday at home to East Burleigh by 9-2. Things have got to change soon - more training attendance would be good I think.

So today, the Reserves are away at Farway. After their Cup result last Saturday, what a hard game ahead.

Hopefully the weather will be ok after the big storm Ciara for everyone who plays football.

Good luck to all.
