CREDITON Youth Football Club’s Under 11’s Girls travelled to Coach Road, Newton Abbot, the headquarters of Devon FA for the County Finals Day, where the girls found themselves placed in a strong group alongside Ivybridge and Plymouth Phoenix.
Unfortunately, the girls suffered two narrow 1-0 defeats in the group rounds. Just one draw would have seen them make the quarter-finals. This now put them in the Plate Competition.
Crediton got off to a very good start against Newton Fire in the first Plate game and won by three goals to nil.
Their spirits were high and in the semi-final they played against Tywford and in a rather heavy rain storm the girls battled and got in front and dominated with the result a 2-1 victory.
Through to the Plate final against WBB, the girls played really well but again found it hard to get the winning goal and conceded in the final moments.
So, all round, a great day, finishing runners-up in the Plate Competition, losing narrowly in the Cup to Plymouth Phoenix who were the eventual winners.
In the five games played Crediton only conceded four goals.
