CREDITON 2 - APPLEDORE 5

CREDITON hosted Appledore on Tuesday, April 19, looking to build on the fine defensive display of the previous Saturday game at Budleigh.

The game plan was torn up after only two minutes when the Appledore striker expertly slotted home from 16 yards into the far corner.

Creddy however were level on nine minutes when good work from Richard Blake saw the striker scuff his shot low and in off the far post from 12 yards to tie up the scores.

After both sides had missed good chances the visitors regained their lead on 17 minutes, after the intital shot was saved the rebound was volleyed home from 10 yards.

Appledore should have extended their lead on 27 minutes after Nathan Keast felled the striker in the box, but the resultant penalty was hit onto the base of the post and away to safety.

In an increasingly open affair, both teams had excellent chances before the break with Blake (twice), Durrant being thwarted and the visitors striking the crossbar, somehow the scoreline remained 1-2.

The open nature continued and at Crediton’s expense the game was over by the hour mark.

Firstly after a flick on from a long throw a rushing midfielder slotted home for 1-3 and after Trenaman caught the striker in the box a second penalty was given.

Despite Keast tipping it onto the bar the rebound was headed home. The Fisherman went 1-5 up before the hour mark after a low strike from inside the box capped a three goal 12 minute spree.

From here the game was over but the hosts did pull one back in the 87th minute when Lee Waring powerfully headed home a Blake corner from 12 yards to complete the scoring at 2-5.

The better team won on the night and really hurt Creddy with their accurate through balls and lightning pace on the counter attack.

On another night the scoreline could well have been 5-10 with the amount of chances in the game.
