SUNDAY, June 13 saw Crediton Youth U10 girls travel to Devon FA headquarters at Coach Road, Newton Abbot for the Devon Girls League U10’s tournament.

The Crediton girls came up against some strong opposition including sides from Central FC and Torquay United, yet they came away unbeaten with the trophy as tournament winners.

Goals on the day came from Gracie Clements, Lexi Mullen and Thea Oakley. All the girls performed amazingly well in temperatures of around 30 degrees and conceded only one goal during the tournament.

The U13’s and 14’s took advantage of the main pitch at Lords Meadow being back in use after a lot of maintenance work.

A local derby against Copplestone Pumas saw the U14’s run out 4-1 winners. At 2-0 up at half-time and in control of the game, they were rocked by an early second half penalty for the visitors. But they regained momentum to end the game the better side. Goals on the night came from Henry Brazier-Armin, Ben Harvey, Callum Lethbridge and Morgan Vincent.

Okehampton were the U13’s opponents and they edged a very close game 2-1. Ben Betts with a fine strike getting the consolation goal for the Crediton side.

The U10’s lead for the majority of their game against Exeter Panthers, 1-0 through a goal from Hayden Richardson Miller, only to slip away to some very late goals from the Panthers.

Broadclyst proved tough opposition for the U7’s down at Lords Meadow, but their coaches were very pleased with their players performances against very well drilled Broadclyst sides, who had played a lot more football than their Crediton counterparts.

Also on Sunday, June 13, the U16 girls returned to action after a few weeks without a game. They had a very comfortable home win over Twyford with Ellen Barrow, Chloe Hartrey, Talitha Roche, Maddie Taylor, Lucy Spiller and Rosie Woodard amongst the goal scorers.

The club will be holding its AGM on Thursday, July 8 at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. The club offers a very warm welcome to any individuals who are interested in joining the committee to help shape the future of youth football in the town.
