ALPHINGTON 1

CREDITON UNITED 2

CREDITON travelled the short distance to the “Chronicles” for a sun-drenched Tuesday evening showdown on August 30.

The first half was largely uneventful with clear cut chances at an absolute premium. The one clear chance of the half fell to Richard Blake, but his attempted lob from 18 yards left a lot to be desired.

The second half more clear cut chances at both ends and the alphas took the lead after an hour, a mix up in the away defence allowed the striker a simple finish from 10 yards.

Crediton, though, battled hard and were levelled 10 minutes later when a Stevie Norish cross was woefully sliced into his own top corner by Reece Stevens to tie the scores up.

A second error by an Alphington defender gave Crediton the win on 80 minutes.

A nice Perry Carpenter through ball was underhit back to his ‘keeper by the Alphas centre-half and Morish cooly squared for Jonny Bradford to tap home from 12 yards to give Crediton a valuable three points and move them towards the top end of the table.
