ALPHINGTON THIRDS 1

CREDITON RESERVES 7

CREDITON Reserves travelled to the King George V ground on October 1 to play Alphington, looking for a fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

On a nice pitch but with a huge side wind and driving rain the opening exchanges were going to be key. Luckily for the Reserves they dominated from the outset and found themselves 5-0 up by the break.

Creddy raced out the blocks and went into a fifth minute lead via the prolific Adam Pidgeon. The lead was doubled five minutes later via a sensational volleyed effort from the edge of the box by Jaap Stam lookalike Chris Gibbo.

Pidgeon added two more goals and Josh Badham got on the scoresheet to give an accurate reflection on the first half proceedings.

At the start of the second half the visitors noticeably dropped their tempo and intensity as the game was already over and the hosts got a consolation goal just before the hour mark.

The final half-hour saw Creddy reassert themselves and add further goals through Kingdom and Conabeare to seal a comprehensive away victory.

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 8, will see a much sterner test as the lads visit Winchester in a second round cup tie.
