A CREDITON United Football Club committee member has been honoured by the Football Association for 50 years’ service to football.

Before a recent match at the Crediton ground at Lords Meadow, Paul Morrison, Devon FA chief executive and Chris Davey, Devon FA representative, Chris was presented with a framed certificate from The FA, lapel badge and gold medallion.

Mr Morrison read the Long Service to Football Award from Greg Clarke, Leader of the FA Council.

It read: “We have received a nomination from the Devon County Football Association for you to receive recognition and an award in respect of the long service that you have given to football.

“The County FA has highlighted your extensive service to football which began in the 1950’s as a player representing your County, and also Dawlish, who were considered to be the Counties best non-league side.

“Soon after you became First Team manager and played an active role as Vice-Chairman, Chairman and currently hold the position as Club Treasurer.

“You have contributed countless hours, your position proves you are valued more than you know and your work and efforts have not gone unnoticed.

“We, at The Football Association, would like to record your appreciation of your wonderful efforts on behalf of football and to offer our congratulations to you on your achievements.”

Mr Morrison said that 50 years’ service to football was a “tremendous achievement”.

Chris was previously honoured by Crediton United for his service to the club, and he still plays an active role within the club.
