IT has been a busy start to the New Year for the Crediton Youth Football Club Girls section.
The three competitive age groups, the Under 12, 14 and 16’s have all made great starts to the New Year in their respective leagues.
All three age groups also qualified for the County Futsal finals at Paignton, with all groups just missing out on qualifying for the next regional rounds of the competition.
Numbers in the U10’s age continue to grow and they got back to playing again with friendly fixtures against Moors Youth, with some great results.
The Under 10’s and 12’s recently went into St James’ Park and took part in the half-time shoot out during the Exeter City v Morecombe game.
The club sponsored two mascot packages for one player from each age group. Corinna Blagden and Alicia Pett were the two lucky winners.
The Under 16’s side were approached by Keynsham Girls to play a friendly. Keynsham had heard about Crediton Youth Girls set up and were prepared to travel down for a game.
Keynsham play 11-a-side as opposed to the nine-a-side played in Devon. With this in mind an 11-a-side game was played on the Crediton United main pitch.
The game finished 5-2 to Keynsham but the Crediton Girls did themselves proud and really gave an excellent visiting side a tough game. The Crediton goals came from Cheyanne Coakley and Chloe Harris.
Special thanks must go to Crediton United for the kind use of its facilities.
