WINKLEIGH Football Club has appealed for information following a break-in, damage and thefts from its clubhouse.
Club members discovered that the football club’s canteen and changing rooms had been broken into during the hours of 7pm on Monday, September 22 and 10am on Tuesday, September 23.
Various items stolen include two strimmers, drinks and food.
A club spokesperson said: “Mindless and childish mess and destruction was caused inside our canteen, including letting off of fire extinguishers, emptying sauce contents and leaving freezer doors open.
“Damage has been caused to all of our secure units with padlocks being broken and damage to internal walls during breaking in.
“Not only is this going to cost the club money in replacing the stolen goods and repairing the damage, it is time and effort from our volunteers that work tirelessly to give this village a football club to be proud of.
“All of our money comes directly from our fundraising efforts and it’s absolutely heartbreaking to be the victims of another attack.
“It’s a wonder what is to be gained from such a vicious act leaving us and Winkleigh Youth Division Football Club out of pocket and being at risk of being able to host our home games, but more so wary of future attacks of malicious behaviour.
“CCTV will now be installed at the club and we are seeking any CCTV footage from surrounding areas/properties to identify the culprits.
“If you have any information regarding this offence, please contact us.”
