WILLARD 0 - SPREYTON 4
A MATT Baker brace, a Will Hawkin stunner of a strike and Chris Down’s 40th goal of the season saw Spreyton to victory on Monday, May 7 against an excellent Willand side, who were much improved from their visit earlier in the season.
An even first 20 minutes burst into life when Chris Down ran through and tucked the ball under the ‘keeper through a ball from Matt Baker in the half-way line over the defence.
Willand looked threatening moving forward but Will Hawking, still forward from a corner, swivelled from a ball from Tyler Cole and fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from 20 yards out (an absolute screamer!) to make it 2-0 at half-time.
An even second half was contested until Matt Baker hooked home a third goal from a lovely weighted cross from Koehan King.
Later on Baker again fired high into the net from some fantastic work from Liam Ward to weave his way on the edge of the six-yard box to lift the ball over the ‘keeper for Baker to fire home.
A great three points for the Spreys in very hot conditions against a very youthful Willand side who challenged us more than the scoreline suggested.
Man of the Match for Spreyton was Liam Ward.
