ON Saturday, November 8, Sandford United Football Club traveled to Witheridge for game number nine of the season, another local derby in this year's league programme, a match against Witheridge.

The first half was dominated by Sandford who hit the bar once and the post four times with the home side troubling the Sandford keeper just once which was saved.

Although in complete contro,l and playing some lovely football, Sandford could not manage to make it count.

Half time arrived with Sandford struggling to make their chances count.

It was 0-0.

The second half saw "ford" back on the attack looking for that elusive goal.

Then, on the 65th minute, after some brilliant inter play, Matt Baker scored an it resulted in us being ahead at 0-1.

Sandford kept plugging away and it wasn't until the 88nd minute that front runner Jayden Friend found the net to make it 0-2 to Sandford.

His goal earned him the Man of the Match award.

Sandford missed chances which meant the score stayed at 0-2 at full-time.

It was another great performance by the squad for another valuable three points which lifts them into third spot in the league.

Well done all.

Next Saturday the "ford" are home at the King George V Playing Field in the second round of the Devon Intermediate Cup, their opponents coming from North Devon in the shape of Torridgeside.

Kick off will be at 2pm, so please come along and support your local team.
