CREDITON United FC Ladies team celebrated their first season recently at the club’s end of season presentation event at the clubhouse.
The team finished a very credible fifth in their first season in the league and went out at the semi-final stage in the league cup.
During the season, they managed to beat every side at least once, other than league champion’s, Budleigh Salterton.
The team wish to thank all their sponsors and Crediton United for all their support.
They would also like to thank the spectators who have followed them this season. The largest gate at Lords Meadow saw a crowd of just under 120 people.
When girls football returned to Crediton Youth FC in 2015, it was always hoped that a ladies team would be in the horizon for the girls to go into ladies football.
That became reality when Sean Hartrey decided to move across from youth football to form a ladies team.
Many ex-Crediton Youth players and other locally-based players have become the backbone of the squad.
Sean has been supported by youth coaches, Dave Hartshorne, Joe Gurney and Martin Daniel.
Award winners for the season were:
Coaches Player - Erica Guppy, Golden Boot - Cheyanne Coakley, Players Player - Rowan Karkeek and Supporters Player - Joint Winners - Cheyanne Coakley and Rowan Karkeek.
