CREDITON Girls Youth Football Club, which has joined Yeovil Town Ladies FC’s sister club programme, as a silver club, recently held activities with Yeovil and then hosted a two-day training camp.

Sean Hartrey, one of the Crediton Girls Youth managers (Under 12 Girls), said: “Well what a week our Crediton Youth girls have had!

“Our week began with a trip to Huish Park on Tuesday evening for a group of our girls to actually take part in Yeovil ladies first team training.

“Our girls were really pushed hard by the Yeovil coaching team and having a first team player alongside throughout working together really was a very special evening!

“All the girls were so inspired by the evening they couldn’t wait to continue their training!

“They didn’t have to wait long as on Thursday and Friday Yeovil Ladies selected Crediton as one of only three locations in the South West to run a two-day girls Summer Camp!

“What a two days it has been for the squad with Ellie and Leah running the training, with more than 20 players attending each day and the training covering all aspects from warm-up and preparation to match situations with lots of fantastic advice for all to take into the season ahead!

“A highlight of the two days was a special personal visit from Jamie Sherwood, the Yeovil Ladies manager who not only had a chat with all the girls but got involved with some game time!

“I must say a big ‘thank you’ to Ellie and Leah for their huge efforts in bringing such a professional level of coaching to Crediton.”

Mr Hartrey added: “It has got us all ready for the start of our season with our under 12 playing in the Devon Girls Football league and our under 10’s, 14’s and 16’s starting in North Devon festivals.”

Training takes place on Fridays from 6pm until 7pm and Crediton Girls Youth are always looking to increase squad numbers.

The next big trip for Crediton Youth Girls is to watch Yeovil Ladies on September 11, with a tournament prior to the match.

Sean added that it is Crediton Youth Girls mascot day and said there will be lots of extras for Crediton Girls.
