SATURDAY, February 25 saw the eagerly awaited return fixture of Sandford United with Crediton United at the Lords Meadow ground.

After suffering a 3-0 defeat at home to Crediton and coming off the back of last Saturday's 6-1 home defeat to Colyton, the "Ford " needed a conference boosting result.

Sandford kicked off and from the start went on the attack and after two minutes won their first corner.

They continued to put pressure on the home defence with more attacks but no goals.

After seven minutes "ford" conceded a corner from which Crediton headed over.

Then, on eight minutes gone, a Sandford attack led to the first goal scored by Sam Reeve 0-1 to the away side.

With 19 minutes played a collision between two players led to a Crediton man having to leave the pitch with a shoulder injury.

The game went end-to-end and on 30 minutes a free kick to "ford" outside the Crediton box led to the shot going over the bar. Sandford had a new signing in midfield, a young lad, Dan Carroll, who was gradually finding his feet alongside the experienced Sam Reeve.

On 34 minutes the home side scored what they thought was a goal, only to be ruled offside.

The game moved towards half-time with Crediton looking for an equaliser and only a brilliant save by "ford" keeper Matt Parsell kept the score at 0-1 to Sandford.

The second half started much like the first finished, with the game eagerly contested, then on 55 minutes gone, a Sandford player was brought down in the area and Sam Reeve stepped up and slammed the ball into the corner of the Crediton net, 0-2 to Sandford.

Young new signing Dan was really making his presence felt tackling and creating good chances on his first appearance.

As the game went on the home side pressed forward and on the 71st minute they scored.

On the 75th minute a goal bound shot was somehow deflected over the Sandford goal.

As the game moved towards full-time Crediton tried as hard as they could but couldn't find the equaliser.

At the end the score remained Crediton 1, Sandford 2.  A brilliant result for the lads who have struggled but stayed loyal and that result made up for all the losses.

This weekend Sandford First team are home to Lyme Regis, KO 3pm. Hopefully another good performance.

The Second team entertained Dolton rangers and unfortunately lost 2-0. This weekend they have a local derby when they are away to Morchard Bishop, KO 3pm.
