SANDFORD Football Club First team travelled to Sidmouth on Saturday, September 3 for its second Premier League match of the season. Sandford started brightly and after 28 minutes took the lead with a goal from right mid-fielder Darren Hughes.
The game went from end-to-end before a mix up in the Sidmouth penalty led to an own goal being scored to put Sandford into a 0-2 lead on 33 minutes.
With two minutes to go to half-time, a breakaway led to Sidmouth, scoring to make it 1-2 to Sandford at the interval.
The second half saw Sidmouth press forward and in the 53rd minute they hit the post.
They also had a goal disallowed in both halves for offside.
After 61 minutes Sidmouth scored to make it 2-2.
Sandford came under increasingly more pressure as their opponents looked for the winner and with two minutes to go to the end, a Sandford defender brought down a Sidmouth forward for a penalty, which they duly converted.
Sandford pressed forward, looking for the equaliser, but failed to net.
At the final whistle Sidmouth ran out 3-2 winners leaving Sandford looking for their first points of the season.

Today, Saturday, the First team are at Newton St Cyres to face Newtown in the cup.
