Cadbury Charity Fun Run

THE annual Cadbury Charity Fun Run will take place in the rolling hills of the Fursdon Estate between Tiverton and Exeter in the village of Cadbury on Saturday, May 6.

The run follows a four-mile circuit through glorious countryside that encompasses bluebell woods and the summit of Cadbury Castle, an Iron Age earthworks with commanding views to Dartmoor on one side and Exmoor on the other.

Each year people of all ages take part and dogs on leads are very welcome.

Some of those taking part race to be first home - last year’s winner made it back in 30 minutes - while others take a leisurely stroll to make the most of the panoramic views. There are prizes for the fastest children too.

At the end of the fun run, everyone returns to Fursdon Coach Hall where tea and delicious cakes, usually featuring chocolate cake, apple cake and even prizewinning rhubarb and custard cake, are available to purchase.

Entry costs £5 per adult, £2 for children of school age and £2 for dogs.

All proceeds go to charity and this year will be split between Oxfam’s Refugee Appeal and Cadbury’s historic Church of St Michael and All Saints, which needs major refurbishment.

People are invited to arrive from 1.30pm for registration (There is free parking next to Fursdon Coach Hall) and the Fun Run will begin at 2.30pm.

Fursdon can be reached from the A3072 Tiverton to Crediton road, or if coming from Exeter then take the turning to Thorverton from the A369 and follow the sign to Fursdon just past the church.
