A NORTH Devon cricket club is get a handout of nearly £9,000 towards its refurbishment from the district council.
North Devon Council’s public open space funds will provide the bulk of the costs to improve the entrance to Newton Tracey Cricket Club’s pavilion by widening it and adding bi-fold doors and creating a viewing area for spectators.
The project will cost a total of £11,000, with the club contributing £2,000.
The council’s strategy and resources committee agreed to the funding from cash developers give as community contributions when they are granted planning permission for homes.
The two specific developments are in Newton Tracey at Higher Westaway and Hunters Inn.
The committee was told that £6,000 was previously allocated to Horwood, Lovacott and Newton Tracey Parish Council towards providing a wooden gazebo at Lovacott Playing Fields four years ago but the parish council chose not to progress the scheme.
