BAD weather played a big part in the latest round of Community League games at Sandford Cricket Club, with the Crediton Milling v Sandford Lads and Dads plus Sandford Football Club v Crediton Rugby Club falling foul to the inclement weather.
All four teams were therefore awarded a point each.
However, last year’s losing finalists, The Three Little Pigs got off to a win when they defeated Graphic quite easily by 56 runs, thanks mainly to an inspired 26 from Alex Stevens, before he had to retire having reached the obligatory retirement score of 25, and then Josh Woodland helped push the score along at the end of the innings with a solid 23 not out before their innings closed after 100 balls.
Ian Bond was Graphic’s most successful bowler with three wickets – all bowled. Not bad for an International Bowls player.
In reply Graphic soon fell behind the run rate, and only Phil Greenslade kept the scoreboard ticking over with 19 before they were all bowled out for 72 after 79 balls.
So with two losses Graphic prop up the league table with Sandford Lads and Dads, Crediton Rugby Club and Sandford Football Club all on four points at the top, The Pigs now close behind on three points and then Crediton Milling on one point.
But with three more games each to come, everything remains wide open with no runaway leaders as such yet.
