AFTER a mammoth day of bowls at Okehampton Bowling Club, Crediton Bowling Club member, Anne Sullivan became the Section Four Unbadged Ladies Singles Champion.

Having to play a gruelling three matches she defeated Kay Weeks from Okehampton and followed this up with another victory over Viv Kirslake, also from Okehampton.

In the Section Final she defeated Kay Keesing from North Tawton and now goes through to the County Quarter Finals, which will be held at Culm Vale Bowling Club on Sunday, August 27.

Through to the Section Four Pairs final are Gary Ayley and Rob Paxton who will play against Trevor Newbery and Mark Theedom.

It was a nip and tuck affair all the way through, but Gary and Rob just edged it and now await the winners of the other semi-final which also involves two Crediton pairings.

The County Trophy side had an excellent win against Topsham and they have put themselves in a great position to win the league as with one match left to play against Heavitree, they top the table.

It was not such a good week for the friendly teams as visits to Marldon ended in a one shot defeat and this was followed up by a four shot defeat at Bitton Park.

Much better news in the Exeter Over 60’s League where all three teams got back to winning ways.

The A team beat Heavitree A 8-0 and are second in the league.

Both the B team and C team are fourth after the B team defeated Axminster 6-2 and the C team defeated Madeira D 8-0.
