FOUR Crediton Youth FC sides were involved in various cup competition semi-finals at the weekend.
The first side to kick-off were the U12s at home to Moors Youth in a league cup-final.
The game was a tight affair in the first-half with the home side 2-0 up.
Things opened up in the second-half and Crediton ran out 8-0 winners. Ethan Moore and Will Matten with doubles and further goals from Hayden Richardson Miller, Jimmy Orchard, Luis Matthews and an own-goal saw them through to the final.
The U13s travelled to Axminster for their league cup semi-final.
Jake Stagg scored a hat-trick and a Thomas Harris goal saw them return with a 4-1 victory and progress to the final for the second consecutive season.
It was heartbreak for the U15s in the plate competition semi-final.
Having been 2-0 up at half-time they eventually lost out 3-2 late on to Axminster. Charlie Cookson and Gabriel Smith grabbed the Credy goals in a thrilling cup tie.
The U14 girls also went out in their league cup semi-final to Torquay United Community Sports Yellows at Lords Meadow.
Ruby Turner was on target for the Credy girls but they eventually lost out 5-1 to the in-form Torquay side.
It was league action for the U14s at home to Brixington Blues.
Charlie Turney with a penalty looked to have secured all three points for the home side, only for the visitors to equalise two minutes from time.
The U11s had a busy day.
They returned from Twyford Spartans with a 2-1 victory as two of the top sides in their league went head-to-head.
Goals from Jayden Saunders and a Casey Philp penalty capped a fine team performance from them.
In the afternoon they were match-day mascots for Crediton United.
Also on the road were the U10s as they made the journey to Okehampton.
It was another good morning for them as they recorded four wins.
Amongst the goal scorers for them were Luke Beetlesone, Radu Mototolea, Theo Nicholson and Will Manns.
The U9s had to settle for friendly games against each other as their opponents pulled out late on.
Sunday saw the U18s take on Central Youth at home. They lost out 3-0 to the Exeter side.
It was another good morning for the U10 girls who had away fixtures against Paignton and Torquay United Community Sports.
Amongst Crediton’s goal scorers were Marnie Harris with four and Emily Walsh with eight.
The weekend also saw Julian Chenary from the Wear a Sports Shirt charity make a visit to Crediton to collect surplus kits for Africa.
It was Julian’s first visit since Covid and both Crediton United and Crediton Youth made sure he departed fully loaded after he had been a guest at fixtures of both clubs.
