TOPSHAM 10

CREDITON 27

CREDITON Under 14's travelled to Topsham on Sunday, February 8, a team they had never beaten.

With a late kick off the game was played on the first team pitch in front of the club house.

From the start it was Crediton putting into practice the hard work they have done in training, and after only a few minutes Josh Woodland darted over the line for a great individual try.

A few minutes later, after good forward pressure allowing the backs the ball, Ethan Power skillfully ran through the Topsham defence to score.

Oscar Broad-Voysey scored next with a well-worked push over try.

With a great backs run Jacob Turner was next to cross over the line. At this point it may have seemed to the unwary onlooker that the game was won, but as we know Topsham are not that easily beaten, and with consistent pressure Topsham soon scored, bringing the half-time score to 5-20.

The second half was more of a contest with solid defence from Crediton keeping out the skillful Topsham backs.

Topsham were the first to score with a good move coming from a penalty edging the scoreline closer.

Crediton however kept up the pressure especially from the forwards that completely dominated the play, allowing Josh Woodland to score again.

The final try was converted by Matt Cooke bringing the final score to 10-27.

A great effort from all the team. Ollie Reddick putting in his best performance of the season; well done to Kieran Ashweek for his first game and Matt Karea was solid as hooker.

But my Men of the Match goes to Harry Trelawny and George Guthrie not only as good consistent players, but for the next day's bragging rights at school.

Well done to all.
