CREDITON 14
NEWTON ABBOT 12
CREDITON Under 14's made a good start to the season with this home win against well drilled opposition.
The visitors took an early lead following a good handling move but Crediton quickly replied with flanker Lewis Terry charging over the line from a quick penalty.
Terry bagged his second try following a half break from centre Callum Vanstone. Kirton's handling was good throughout the game and quick hands saw the ball fed out to flying winger Abe Dellamuro for his first try of the season.
Lock George Stone earned a turnover in a maul which saw him then burst into the opposition 22.
Centre Barry Karea then broke through the opposition back line before slipping the ball to Terry for his third try of the game.
The second half continued in the same vein for Crediton. From a lineout, the ball went wide to Dellamuro, who raced into the corner for his second.
Newton fought hard and their backs pushed deep into Crediton's half but Crediton scrum-half, Conrad Saunders, was on-hand to pick up the loose ball and make a good break before being brought down in the All Whites 22.
Second row Danny Martin, following up in support, was able to capitalise on the quick ball to crash over the line.
Newton kept to the task in hand and an impressive chase following a kick ahead saw a well deserved try for the visitor's under the posts.
Terry finished off the scoring with his fourth try following a blindside break. Karea kicked three conversions.
An impressive all round team performance to get the season off to a great start.
