NINETEEN members of staff and one student from Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton took part in Michelmores annual 5k charity fun run in Exeter on September 7.

The run was in aid of Balloons, a local charity that support bereaved children and their families in Exeter and the surrounding area.

The event is in its 18th year and is the South West’s largest corporate charity run, with more than 1,100 runners in total.

Lisa Champ, Clerk to the Governors at QE said: “It poured down with rain for 15 minutes when we all met at 6pm, so we had to take shelter under some scaffolding – thankfully the sun appeared at 6.15pm, just in time for a team photo and the start of the run!”

Running on wet cobbles and pavements around the centre of Exeter, Northernhay Gardens and the Barnfield Theatre area was a challenge but the whole QE team finished the run.

They all thoroughly enjoyed the event and have even asked to sign up for next year!

QE were delighted to help this excellent local charity which has supported a number of bereaved QE students in the past.

Well done to those who took part and thank you to those who sponsored them.
