AFTER our first year of Crediton Ladies FC the squad went on a long, away weekend to Centre Parcs where they had a great time together.

The side based on local ladies and ex Crediton Youth players remains intact from last season with just a couple of new players, Jas and Flora.

Both are local ladies who will cover two long-term injuries from last season.

Hampered by extreme weather and a couple of sides pulling out, the players welcomed Bideford to Lords Meadow in the last preseason game.

It was a very entertaining game where some ex Crediton Youth players and families were welcomed back to Crediton and the team came out on top with a result of 5-4.

The Devon Ladies League season commenced on September 4 with Crediton’s first fixture away at Ottery St Mary.

Crediton started brightly to match the bright yellow kit, creating a few good early chances but were unable to take the opportunities.

On the half-hour mark, following some confusion between Ottery St Mary’s keeper and the referee, Crediton were awarded a free kick just outside the box, which Cheyanne struck into bottom left of goal with the keeper flailing.

With the ice broken Crediton quickly got a second goal again from Cheyanne with a superb shot from a distance, which flew past the keeper to make it 2-0.

In the remaining 10 minutes of first half, Crediton really started to completely dominate and pass the ball around really well which led to Cheyanne completing her hat-trick from close range and a fourth goal came from Sophie Young.

The second half, playing up the hill, was all about Crediton controlling the match and looking to keep a clean sheet. This was comfortably achieved with Crediton restricting the home side to only one shot off target in 90 minutes.

So off to a great start with a four goal win away from home, the players now have their first ever Ladies FA Cup match away to Helston. This will be tough match as Helston played a league higher last season.

Hopefully, Crediton can pull off a shock win and get through to the next round which would be a home match!
