MONDAY, September 9 - six mixed rinks v Bideford bowling club – home – Although Crediton won by 127-92 shots the interesting game of the afternoon was "skip" John Theedom's come back from 12-21 shots down on the 19th end to score a *"Hot Shot" to pull the scores back to 20-21 shots on the 20th end before dropping a shot on the last end of the game to finish 20-22 down.
C Bishop lost 13-19, J Theedom lost 20-22, M Haywood won 23-15, R Fickling won 25-14, P Martin won 22-15 and C Fribbens won 24-7. Crediton won by 127-92 shots.
Tuesday, September 10 – six mixed rinks v Madeira, Exmouth – away – Crediton lost by three shots in this game. S Wollacott lost 13-21, G Newbery won 26-15, C Fribbens drew 23-23, P Page won 26-13, P Martin lost 11-15 and R Grant lost 11-26. Crediton lost by 110-113 shots.
Thursday, September 12 - four mixed rinks v Dawlish Marina – away – Crediton had an 82 shots victory in this game. R Grant won 40-9 T Richards won 28-9, M Haywood won 20-12 and P Martin won 32-8. Crediton won by 120-38 shots.
Friday, September 13 – three ladies' rinks v Shaldon – away – M Scott won 17-15, J Martin won 25-4 and C Marshall won 23-5. Crediton won by 65-24 shots.
Saturday, September 14 - seven mixed triples v Torrington – home – S Wollacott lost 15-23, T Newbery won 24-13, M Theedom drew 16-16, P Martin won 16-8, T Chamberlain won 19-14, G Newbery won 19-14 and R Grant won 19-4. Crediton won 128-92 shots.
Sunday, September 15 – five mixed triples v Heavitree – away – this game finished after 14 ends of bowls due to heavy rain. P Milford lost 8-20 C Marshall lost 10-12, P Martin won 18-11, S Wollacott lost 6-18 and T Chamberlain lost 12-16. Crediton lost by 54-77 shots.
MEN'S OVER 60's
PRESENTATION DAY
Wednesday, September 9. The annual men's over 60's Exeter and District Bowling League presentation day was held at Budleigh Salterton Bowling Club.
The day began with 32 triple bowling teams, one from each league club, playing a "Round Robin" tournament which was won by a Crediton triple of Robin Scott, Mike Haywood and Roy Andrews, in second place was Seaton and Budleigh Salterton took third place.
This was followed by High Tea and the award ceremony which saw league President, Alan Pearson, and Secretary, Tony Broughton, present seven Cups and Trophy's to the winning teams.
* a hot shot is where four people playing on the same rink and using two bowls each – score a maximum eight shots on one end of bowls.
