MEN'S OVER 60'S LEAGUE

WEDNESDAY, August 7 - two men's rings triples 'A' v Heavitree 'C' home - although winning by 25 shots, league leaders 'A' team dropped two points against Heavitree 'C' team - giving them just a three points lead at the top of the table.

L Parker lost 16-20 and R Scott won 33-4. Crediton won by 49-24 shots – league points 6-2.

Two men's triples 'B' v Feniton 'A'– home – The 'B' team's poor run of form continued with a two shot defeat at home to Feniton 'A'. S Wollacott won 19-15 and G Newbery lost 14-20 – Crediton lost by 33-35 shots – league points – 2-6.

Two men's triples 'C' v Axminster – home – 'C' team's second maximum eight points pick-up in three weeks took them well away from the relegation zone. T Richards won 19-7 and P Moon won 18-14 – Crediton won by 37-21 shots – league points – 8-0.

LADIES' OVER 50's LEAGUE

Wednesday, August 7 – two ladies triples - team Yellow v Heavitree – away – J Martin lost 11-25 and C Marshall lost 13-22. Crediton lost by 24-47 shots – league points - 0-6.

Thursday, August 8 – two ladies triples – team Yellow v Topsham – home – C Marshall won 16-14 and D Richards won 26-10. Crediton won by 42-24 shots – league points – 6-0.

CLUB FRIENDLIES

Saturday, August 10 – four mixed rinks v Bradninch – away – G Newbery won 26-11, T Newbery won 21-15, S Wollacott won 28-14 and P Martin won 17-16. Crediton won 92-56 shots.

Sunday, August 11 – five mixed triples v the Park, Tiverton – Crediton lost its second mixed friendly game of the season by four shots at the Park, Tiverton. M Grant lost 9-26, R Grant lost 18-22, T Chamberlain won 18-12, R Bishop won 16-14 and R Gunn won 21-12. Crediton lost by 82-86 shots.

CHAMPIONSHIPS

Saturday, August 10: In a game that was "marked" by Peter Martin, the Crediton Club captain, veteran club bowler Tom Richards, won the Men's Club Championship for the third time in his bowling career.

The last time was in 1991. This time around he defeated Richard Gunn by 13-21 shots in this year's final. J
