ON September 23, the Sparkle Warriors will, for the third year running, be taking part in the annual Dragon Boat race on Exeter Quay to raise much needed funds for Devon Air Ambulance.

The group members were all friends of Samuel Crocker, who attended Landscore School in Crediton, who tragically died following a road accident in Crediton on February 28, 2015.

Samuel was helped by the Devon Air Ambulance and thousands of pounds has been raised in his memory by the people of Crediton and district and the Sparkle Warriors since that time.

The team of 16 plus paddlers will take to the water to compete with other locals teams.

Last year the Sparkle Warriors raised more than £1,500 and this year the group members are aiming to raise more than £2,000.

The Warriors are an eclectic mix including staff from Crediton Hospital, Chiddenbrook Surgery, VirginCare/Children’s Services (school nurses), Crediton Scout leaders, Landscore and ex-Landscore mums and dads and a few children even taking part.

If you would like to sponsor the Sparkle Warriors, the team members would be grateful for any donations.

They would also welcome support on the day, and it is a sight to see as the dragon boats make their way along part of the River Exe.
