CREDITON and Copplestone PUMA Martial Arts Black Belts have secured their positions on the International Taekwon-Do stage by each securing a medal in their respective age and grade categories.
Sophie, Alex and Daniel with Dave Powlesland, their instructor and coach, were also supported on the day in Swindon by Sarah Powlesland (Dave’s daughter) who secured a silver medal.
Dave explained that the event was attended by squads which travelled from across Europe and the USA, so the standard was very high.
Dave said: “To have four students at Black Belt level attend and all receive medals was an awesome achievement for the individuals but also our Schools and Martial Arts in general across the area.
“I am so proud to have the opportunity to teach and train alongside these dedicated and talented individuals!”
In closing Dave said: “What is so great is that despite their achievements these guys will be at the next training session looking at how they and their colleagues in our group can develop further and achieve their next goal.”
Sophie, who has been training with Dave for more than 10 years, said: “Taekwon-Do has so much to offer to all ages and abilities, and we are all here along with Mr Powlesland supporting and helping each other.
“I have learnt so much I can use in everyday life from my training and being part of this group. I hope others will be able to get as much from Taekwon-Do as I have.”
