CREDITON Active Mums, the Mum to Mum Support Group which supports Mum’s who are suffering with or who have suffered from post-natal mental health issues and enables them to connect with other Mum’s in similar situations, support each other, have general rants, drink coffee and eat cake, has organised a charity fundraising bike ride, which will take place this Sunday, July 30.
A total of 35 mums, dads and children will be cycling from Exeter Quay to Dawlish Warren and back to raise funds for the Crediton Mum to Mum Support Group.
Children as young as five will tackle the 22-mile ride, with young babies and toddlers being towed in trailers by their parents, provided by Active Devon and Ride On Exeter.
Jessica Atkinson, who started Active Mums under the Active Devon Umbrella said: “We only started the Crediton group in January and we are already going from strength-to-strength.
“We are looking to raise some money for advertising to reach as many mums in need as possible.
“We have hired the Piazza Terracina on Exeter Quay for the day, so if anyone fancies coming and supporting our cyclists, they are hoping to race back between 3pm - 4pm where they will receive medals and an ice cream reward! It’s going to be a fantastic day raising money for a truly deserving cause.
“You can sponsor our riders by using the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/mum-to-mum-support-group-crediton .
“Or come cheer us all on and donate on the day!”
Members and friends from other groups’ in Exeter and Cranbrook will also be taking part in the bike ride.
Jessica added that she hopes that acquiring further advertising materials will ensure the groups message reaches all those in need as well as reaching the eventual goal of becoming a recognised charity.
She added: “Any donations would be greatly appreciated.”
