DID you know that there are at least 5,000 groups in the UK working on community renewable energy projects?
Did you know that 60 Megawatts of electricity can already be generated by community-owned companies and the estimate is that this will rise to three Gigawatts in the next six years?
Sustainable Crediton wants our area to be part of this movement.
The group is looking at various forms of renewable energy.
Following a survey carried out at Crediton Markets, the favoured form at present is solar PV on large roofs.
Any profits would go back to the community, perhaps to help people save energy and reduce bills.
To see if the project is viable and to find out more about the best options, the group hopes to gain a grant from the Rural Communities Energy Fund for a feasibility study.
You can find out more and show support for this exciting project by attending a public meeting on Wednesday, April 9, at 7.30pm at Crediton Football Club, by the Leisure Centre, or emailing: [email protected]">[email protected] or ringing Linda on 01363 777624.
