South West Peninsula League Division East CREDITON UNITED 5 SIDMOUTH TOWN 2 AFTER defeating Totnes 5-2 on Saturday (August 30) it was the turn of Sidmouth to be on the receiving end as Crediton took revenge for the defeat of a couple of weeks ago. But it was the classic game of two halves as Sidmouth Town led at the break through a Harvard strike. In truth the first half was a pretty frantic affair with the Crediton midfield of Bilcock, Badham and Lee coping well with the Sidmouth lads and very few chances were created, the best of which fell to Kenny Ord who took far too long to get a shot in. Josh Badham was impressive across the pitch and also came close to scoring before the half was out. Sidmouth were shading it but only just. The second half was quite a different story as Kirton flew out of the blocks - Kenny Ord in particular. Firstly a mazy run on 49 minutes which left many Vikings in his wake, the ball fell to Perry Carpenter who made no mistake for 1-1. Then it was Sidmouth's turn to come close as firstly a point blank save by Keast kept them out and then a blockbuster hit the far post with the 'keeper nowhere. Then, straight to the other end flew the home side and the subsequent long ball was taken in his stride by Kenny Ord who rounded the goalie to put Crediton 2-1 in front. Sidmouth were then awarded the penalty which brought the scores level but immediately Kenny Ord headed just over. By now the home side were starting to take over completely and with the Sidmouth defence all at sea, Kenny grabbed his second and Crediton's third goal of the game. Soon it was four as Perry Carpenter shot home with the Sidmouth 'keeper stranded. Before the end Perry completed his hat-trick as another long ball found Sidmouth wanting and Crediton had their fifth of the evening. A fine attacking display from the home side with all the goals being scored by the strikers. Josh Badham was particularly impressive and the defence, though once again conceding two goals, needs to improve but at least Crediton are off the bottom of the league with two wins in four days and can now face the future with confidence mounting.
