COULD you roll a bowl closer to the jack than your friends? Could you keep your nerve in a close finish? Could lawn bowls become your new favourite summer pastime?
Go along to find out at Crediton Bowls Taster Day at Crediton Bowling Club in Newcombes Meadow on Saturday, May 23 from 10.30am until 2pm. The Club is situated just behind Crediton Library.
Forget the old stereotypes — bowls is sociable, surprisingly competitive, highly addictive and a lot more skilful than people imagine.

It is also one of the few sports where all ages and abilities can play together and genuinely compete.
Whether you are young, old, sporty, curious, retired, newly moved to the area, or simply looking for something different to try, you will be made very welcome.
Friendly club members will be on hand to show you the basics and help you have a go on the green.
No experience is needed and all equipment is provided. Just wear flat shoes and take along your sense of humour!
Bowls offers fresh air, gentle exercise, good company and the chance to make new friends. Many people who “just came to try it once” are still playing years later.
Why along and see what all the fuss is about? You may discover a hidden talent — and a new social life too.
