PRIDE of place this week goes to the group of Trevor Newbery, Anne Sullivan, Jenny Newbery and Terry Chamberlain who won the Starcross Centenary Bowling Trophy for Crediton Bowling Club.

The match featured six teams from Starcross competing against six invited

teams with each of the Starcross sides playing four ends against each of the visiting teams.

Crediton won, having scored the most number of shots in their 24 ends and the trophy now sits proudly in the Crediton Bowling Club Pavilion.

The ladies were3 off to the County quarter-final of the Grace Matthews Trophy, but what a nail-biting affair it was.

The competition rules state that the winner is the side who wins three out of the five disciplines.

The two woods singles just lost but the four woods singles won.

The pairs pulled back a big deficit to make it 2-1 overall.

The rink was putting up a brave fight to get back on even terms but while all this was going on the triples clinched their game and victory was secured.

The men are through to the next round of the Foxlands.

An interesting format for this competition as one rink plays at home while at the same time one rink is playing away.

This obviously means there is much texting to see how things are going and on this occasion Exeter St Thomas were our opponents with Rob Paxton taking his four to Exeter and Chris Bond holding the fort at home.

The scores of each rink are added together with Crediton being victorious by 12 shots and will next play Heavitree.

Latest results from the Mens Over 60’s League:

Crediton B beat Morchard Bishop A 6-2.

Crediton C lost to Belmont B 0-8.
