ON Sunday, July 22 North North Tawton Bowling Club held its now annual “Pub Day” Competition which saw 14 teams from local inns enter.
The event which was organised by bowlers John Kinsey, David Nicks and Lloyd Reynolds was a great success, the weather was kind and the competitors keen to compete.
The supporters made up of family and friends plus lots of children were in good spirits. It was a joy to see the beautiful grounds and clubhouse being enjoyed by so many of the town’s folk.
After a very long but happy day the eventual winners, The Copper Key A Team (Paul Aryes, Martin Hann and Richard Gould), collected the pub trophy presented by Stan Friend, a big supporter of the club with the help of President Mike Thwaites.
Food consisting of bacon baps, hot dogs and burgers plus cream teas at the end.
This was supplied by the club lady bowlers who worked tirelessly but with great results and the bar, needless to say, did a roaring trade!
The day ended with a huge draw. The first prize of a flying lesson was won by Robin Scott.
A great day was had by all and thanks go to all the club members who worked to achieve a grand total of £2,558.
