MONDAY, July 15 was the day bookmarked for the Ladies County Two Wood Triples at Heavitree B.C.
Only five triples from section four took part, so it was completed on the first day with the teams needing to play three games. C.Marshall and co lost in the final to a Topsham B.C. Triple.
During the evening three club triples completed their penultimate game with the 22/7 being the completion of the league fixtures, all results will be published next week.
Tuesday, July 16 was hot and humid but our intrepid bowlers went in search of cooler air at Bradninch B.C. situated on a hill above the M5, result: C.Fribbens 19 v 13 K.Snell 14 v 19 S.Wollacott 5 V 27 S.Forster 25 v 16 Crediton lost 63 v 75 overall.
On Tuesday evening two pairs from Crediton, one men’s to play Grater Pairs and one ladies to play a senior pairs final, travelled to Topsham B.C. with neither collecting the laurels. At home an Unbadged Pair constituting A.Gibb/M.Davies (Crediton) played J.Kinsey/D.Nix (North Tawton) with Crediton pairing achieving second place.
On another rink a Mixed Triple consisting Simpson/Bond/Paxton played Carpenter/Grant/Grant with the former Triple winning.
Wednesday, July 17 was Over 60s as usual with the Crediton A team welcoming the league leaders to our green, where they showed their class and why they are league leaders! R.Andrews 14 v 22 R.Scott 8 v 20.
Crediton B team travelled in the opposite direction to play Topsham B.C. red losing on both rinks; results not available.
Crediton C team suffered the same fate when they played at Culm Vale B.C. results: R.Fickling 10 v 18 D.Grant 16 v 26.
On Wednesday evening a Senior Fours Finals with eight teams took place at Exonia B.C. including a four from Crediton (Marshall/Rainford/Carpenter/Heal) who unfortunately lost to the Combe Martin four.
On the green at the same time four pairs teams were playing off to reach Leamington All England Finals. Chesney/Cooper beat Webber/Harvey and Hackett/Aspinall beat Bond/Scott.
The losers play off on Thursday for third place.
On Thursday, July 18 12 bowlers journeyed to Chagford B.C. for an enjoyable game on a beautiful afternoon results: T.Staite 22 v 14 A.Turner 20 v 12 P.Cookson 12 v 24 M.Chaplin 11 v 14.
In the evening, a Men’s league match against Heavitree was played at Crediton with Crediton winning three out of four rinks and winning overall score.
At Topsham B.C. a mixed Triples game between P.Stone/ T.Newbery was lost on the last end by the Crediton Triple with a never to be forgotten wood.
At Starcross B.C. Bond/Scott won against Webber/Harvey in the play off which ensures a first visit and County Badge for A.Bond. Well done.
Crediton A travelled to Tavistock B.C on Friday, July 19 to challenge Chasewater B.C. of Cornwall in the section final of the Tony Allcock Trophy. In the pouring rain our team struggled to meet the challenge and lost by eight shots.
Saturday, July 20 dawned after the rain of Friday and Bideford Strand B.C. travelled to Crediton for a six rink friendly with many friends scattered throughout the rinks it made a very enjoyable afternoon, results: T.Newbery 22 v 7 D.Richards 26 v 13 M.Grant 22 v 19 S.Wollacott 26 v 18 D.Grant 13 v 14 M.Haywood 37 v 8.
Sunday, July 21 was Ladies Championship Day with just 13 ladies taking part. Dorothy Richards once again organised the day, everyone brought food along so a civilised lunch was available to all.
After two rounds the four Ladies left standing were M.Chaplin v B.Cann and C.Rainford v J.Flower. These games will be played on a date to be arranged.
