AFTER a three-year break because of covid, Crediton’s Industrial Bowls Tournament was back, the finals being played on Saturday, August 20 at Crediton Bowling Club.

The last tournament was in 2019.   This year 52 teams took part, mostly from local businesses plus one from Tedburn St Mary, two from Sandford plus a Rotamic team, the company having moved from Crediton into Exeter.

The tournament is run by Crediton Boniface Rotary Club whose President, Liz Ledsham, presented trophies.

On behalf of the club, Paul Radnor who runs the competition, thanked Richard Gunn for setting out the rinks and filling out all the scorecards each time, Dave Carpenter and all the bar staff at the Bowling Club for their work, all the Bowling Club members who provided hot pasties during the tournament, and Roy Andrews and his helpers for preparing the green for play.

Paul added that only one match had to be cancelled because of the rain storms, all the rest having gone well.

Winners were the East Street Barbers team of Simon Roberts, Leigh Tucker, Rob Paxton (the one bowler allowed for each team) and Neil Hookway.

Runners-up were the Graphic A team of Ian Bond (the bowling member), Dave Pickard, Neil Ford and Simon Cartlidge.
