TEN teams took part in the annual Crediton Twinning Association Boules Tournament which was held on the Town Square in lovely weather on Saturday, May 25.

The competition has been running since 1989 (the Year the Association was formed) and was organised by Peter Brewer.

As is the normal way, any team losing their first match progress to the “Plate Competition”, while winning teams progress to the next round of the main competition.

The event started at 1pm and play continued throughout the afternoon with the final winners being decided at 4pm.

The results were as follows: Winners - Golden Balls - comprising the Twinning Association Chairman Jenni Pitts and her husband David in addition to the Association Secretary and Treasurer Sheila Ralph and Garry Adams.

They beat Julie Gray’s Team in the final so Julie retained the Runners-Up Trophy she had won in 2023.

“The Rolling Clones’ were beaten in the Plate final by “The Incrediboules” who were back after several years and who have twice won the main trophy.

Peter Brewer said it was lovely to see the Square full of families and friends enjoying themselves as well as watching the Boules games.

Crediton is twinned with Avranches in France.

The weekend of May 27 and 28 in 2023 saw the visit of a delegation of 34 friends from Avranches join in Celebrations of the signing of the Town’s Twinning Charter on April 17, 1993 at a Crediton Town Council Reception.
