LAST month saw the celebration of achievement and progress of all members of Queens Badminton Club at the 16th Annual Queens Badminton Award Presentation Evening.
Nick Masson, chairman, said: “I’m proud of the many players who have faced their fears on and off court and found a way of overcoming those fears to deliver performances that were way beyond what they might originally expect.”
Hannah Preece, treasurer, also spoke of how badminton has given her so many more opportunities and skills, adding that it was a brilliant way of meeting new people and making new friends.
Adrian Partridge (coach and parent) also gave a speech and spoke of his personal experience, saying: “Like many parents I have introduced many different sports and activities to my children over the years and Queens Badminton Club is the one that we as a family have been most involved in.
“I’ve seen the progress my children have made but more importantly I’ve seen the friends they’ve made, the life skills they’ve learnt and the confidence in aiming to be the best they can be, and to help to overcome challenges … from a very tough tournament schedule covering thousands of miles to recovering from a major knee operation at the same time as sitting GCSEs.”
As well as awarding players achievements, big thanks were given to all the coaches, committee members, trainers and parents without whom, Queens would not be the club it is.
