A FORMER pupil of Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton has successfully run the length of Great Britain from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Keen runner, Andrew Melbourne set off from Land’s End on Monday, July 17 and achieved his ambition when he reached John O’Groats on Friday, August 11.

He is a keen runner and has run several ultra marathons and 513 park runs.

Andrew ran for 23 days with three rest days in between and covered between 32 and 45 miles each day.

During the run he wore through two pairs of trainers whilst covering close to 860 miles with the best days being those on the West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William and on via Loch Ness to Inverness.

Andrew, who has a PhD, works at King’s College in London as a Senior Lecturer and Course Director in Healthcare Technologies.

His family, who supported him by hiring a camper van and leapfrogging him from campsite to campsite congratulated him on his achievement.

They are ready to support him on his next run!
