ONCE again, Tedburn St Mary Judo Club showed its worth when five students attended the Cornwall Area Open Competition held in Redruth.

Despite them all fighting people above their weight categories, they came away with one gold, three silver and one bronze medal.

Cameron fought well and won a gold medal.  Lily and Amy fought valiantly to win a silver for Lily and a bronze for Amy.

Tarika and her father Neil, who is one of the Sensei at the Tedburn Club, both won silver medals.

Tarika has just recently become a senior Judoka and was up against much older and higher graded girls than herself.

But she fought hard and confidently and fully deserved her silver medal.  Neil, once again, proved to be a formidable opponent and easily secured his silver medal.

If anyone is interested in taking up this sport, please get in touch with Sensei Allen on 07745 940159 for more information.

Formed 24 years ago, this is a very friendly club which meets every Friday at Tedburn St Mary Village Hall from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for primaries, five-to-nine-years old, and 7.30pm-9pm for juniors (10-16 years) and seniors.

“All are welcome, please come and join in,” said Sensei Allen.  He added that Judo can help build confidence, helps people to focus, get and keep fit, self defence and have fun, a big part of this club.
