SATURDAY, October 15 saw Sandford AFC travel to Butt’s Road, Ottery St Mary, to compete in the team’s fourth match of this year’s Exeter and District Premier League.

Sandford started brightly, forcing the home side back with some fast and clever football.

Two chances went begging in the first two minutes before Tudor Morgan-Hugget put Sandford in front after 12 minutes.

More chances went missing, including another penalty miss.

Then, on the 34th minute, Tudor was on-hand to score his second of the afternoon.

Four minutes later Ottery had a chance but it was ruled offside.

Half-time came with Sandford dominating and should have been further ahead.

The second half started with the home side taking the initiative and Sandford was forced to defend and attack on the break.

In the 56th minute Dean Pidgeon made it 3-0 to the away side as it continued to come under more pressure from the Otters.

The game swung back and forward before Deano Jones made it 4-0 with a deserved goal.

Eleven minutes from the end Ottery shot over the bar, then Sandford pressed forward and, five minutes from the end, Tudor completed a brilliant hat-trick to make it 5-0.

As the game drew to an end, with the Otters still making a game of it, Dean Pidgeon was on-hand to score Sandford’s sixth goal, making the final score 0-6 to Sandford.

It was a brilliant and well deserved first Premier league win of the season - may it continue.

Next game for the first team is on October 22 at Alphington.

Please go along and support your local side.
