CREDITON Youth U13s returned to action on Tuesday night (January 31) as the top two sides in Division One of the EDYL went head to head under lights at the Exwick Hub.
It was the Crediton lads who came out on top of a thrilling game, as a double from Seb Roche and another goal from Jake Stagg saw them edge out West Exe Youth 3-2.
It was heartbreak on Sunday for the side as they lost out on penalties to WBB in the County Cup. The game finished one apiece with Seb Roche getting the Creddy goal.
Things ended disappointingly for the U16s who went in ahead at half-time against league leaders Stoke Hill at Lords Meadow.
The Exeter side upped their game in the second half and took all three points with a 6-4 victory. Owen Jones and Ryan Sandland both getting two each for the home side.
What a difference a week makes! The U15s lost out to Sidmouth Town Warriors last week, but turned things around in their Plate fixture a week later.
Charlie Cookson led the scoring with three, doubles from Gabe Smith and Jack Brimilcombe and Alfie Poole, Ben Betts and Frankie Mason completed the scoring for the home side in a 10-1 victory.
Another side who returned to action after a long lay off were the U14s.
Rhys Ebdy had not forgotten where the goal is, as his hat-trick helped them to a useful 3-1 victory away at Culm Sampford.
A busy weekend for the U12s as they had two cup fixtures.
Saturday saw them progress to the next round of the league cup with a 4-1 win away at Stoke Hill.
Two Hayden Richardson Miller goals and singles from Luis Matthews and Will Matten booked their passage through to the next round.
It was also County Cup drama for them as they lost out to Seaton 2–1 the following day.
Luis Matthews got the Crediton goal, but they were upset to concede with just a couple of minutes to go before the game would have gone to penalties.
Another long journey for the U11s as they travelled to Lyme Regis. But it was a worthwhile journey as they returned with a 3-0 victory.
Jayden Saunders with two and “birthday boy” Casey Philp on the score sheet for them.
A special mention goes to the defenders Ellis Friend, Freddie Peake and Finlay Cavender for their performances.
The U10s were away at Whipton Youth.
It was two narrow defeats, one win and one draw for them.
Getting their goals on the day were Evan Leach, Jacob Harling, Luke Beetlesone, Seb Conridge and Thomas Levett.
The U18s had to share the points with local rivals Tedburn St Mary at Lords Meadow.
Lewis Heywood with a 30-yard free kick getting their goal in a 1-1 draw.
It was another good win for the U14 girls at home against Ottery St Mary. Another Chloe Curtis hat-trick and further goals from Evie Gresswell, Evie Lewis and Ruby Turner helped them to a 6-1 victory.
Back to winning ways for the U12 girls as they came away from Torquay United Community Sports Blues with a 2-0 win.
Gracie Clements and Gracie Pugsley on target for them.
The U10 girls travelled to take on sides from Cullompton and Exmouth.
One win and a couple of narrow defeats for them.
Their coaches were again very proud of their performances.
