A VERY prolific week was had by almost every angler on the banks of Creedy Lakes, in Crediton, and there have been several 18,19 and 20 pound bags of fish being tempted out with action either early in the morning or after lunch.
Heaviest tench of 5lbs was banked by Tedburn St Mary angler Rob Bradley. The local angler chose to fish three-quarters of the way up on the left bank and had seven fish in total.
His other six catches included five double figures best of 16lbs 8oz.
His step dad Gordon was visiting from Hull and he also had some tench action when he banked a nice 3lbs green tench whilst fishing nearby.
Crediton’s Martin Tickner had a great result fishing at the top of the right bank where he tempted out a grand total of 15 fish, all commons.
He was just leaving when his fellow angling mate, Mark Best, suddenly got some action and Martin was called back to help land a couple of fish after Mark had two successive double takes.
Mark managed to have a 20lbs common on the bank and he then brought the second rod in which brought another great specimen, this time a 24lbs common.
Also this past week Crediton angler Mike Izzard tempted out several commons (10 plus) from the surface.
