CREDITON and Copplestone Professional Unification of Martial Arts (PUMA) Taekwon-Do students competed in the PUMA British Open Championships held at Swindon, Wiltshire - and returned with an impressive 13 gold, silver and bronze trophies.

The local students of IV degree black belt, Dave Powlesland, were among 400 competing at the event.

Dave explained that the members had to travel through adverse weather conditions to get there and described their achievement as "absolutely fantastic".

He added: "It really is a brilliant achievement for the individuals who took part and for the local area.

"It is a tribute to the wonderful facilities we have available at the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre that enables people to take part - and the come from all aspects and diversities of the community.

"Our practitioners are winning national titles as a result which is good for the club, area and the Leisure Centre."

They won the awards in patterns, sparring and high kick.

Crediton PUMA Taekwon-Do classes are held at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings and at Copplestone on Wednesday evenings.
